Why packaging matters

Food waste is a huge problem

So far this year
1,083,333,333
tonnes of food have been lost or wasted globally.
Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year gets lost or wasted.

Food waste accounts for almost 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
By protecting food in transport, in the store and in our homes, packaging helps cut down food waste.

But the ideal packaging should not only keep food fresh and safe to eat – it should also be easily recyclable to save resources.
